What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is one of the older methods of healing. Ancient Saint "Sushrut" from India found out this methodology through their meditation process. He wrote about it in detail in a book named " Sushrut Sahinta". Even Acupuncture treatment (Suchi Shastra - Acupuncture & Marma Chikitsa - Acupressure) is mentioned in the famous Vedas.
Acus means points and punctura means puncture.
The process of inserting needles into the body of a patient to cure his diseases is called Acupuncture. This needle insertion in the patient's body will generate the below mentioned changes in the patient

Acupuncture treatment is done by the insertion of needles on the specific points of the body that has to be cured and then passing electrical stimulation into the body through these needles.
Different types of needles
The needles are inserted in the specific points in the body. These specific points are called as Acupuncture points. The depth of needle insertion is fixed for each of the acupuncture points. There is no medicine applied to these needles while inserting them in to the patient's body.
Acupuncture treatment should not be given to the below mentioned patients:
- Pregnant Women
- Very old Patients
- Patient who are influenced with alcohol
- New born baby
- The person who have sweated a lot
- The patients with convulsion problem should not be given electronic stimulation
How the diseases are cured by inserting needles into the body?
Due to needles insertion, our body creates a chemical medicine called Endorfine in the blood. There are 17 different types of Endorfines are created due to this process. It is also said the energy generated in the body can be controlled by the needle insertion process. This process can be used in parallel with the routine medication prescribed for the patient.
Note: Patients with diabetes and high blood pressure should intimate in advance before the treatment is started.
What is Electrical Stimulation?
After the needles are inserted into the body, there is one machine that is connected to these needles. This machine stimulates a small amount of electricity (that is safe) into the patients body through this needles which treats the patients. This device is called as Acupunctoscope.
Note: the patient suffering from convulsion and heart diseases should not be given electric stimulation.
The patients can also be treated by pressing various points of the body. This process is also called as Acupressure. After diagnosis of the various points of the body a small amount of pressure is applied on these identified points and patient is cured from the disease.
Dry Needling
In this process the needles are inserted in the painful points of the body. The needles are like the normal injection ones. These are inserted for some time in the body.
Various seeds are also used for treatment. Vaccaria (Methi ) seeds are used for treatment. This process is followed normally on the points near the ear. The seeds are kept for 10 days with the help small tapes. Instead of seeds, magnet is also used.
